Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traore is set to be offered to AC Milan by his agent Jorge Mendes, according to reports in the last 48 hours.
The Lowdown: The story so far
The Premier League playmakerâs contract at Molineux is set to expire at the end of the season and his future is up in the air having not yet put pen to paper on fresh terms.
The Athleticâs Steve Madeley recently claimed that whilst the 27-year-old is a lot happier with life playing under Julen Lopetegui, the two parties arenât currently in active talks to extend his stay.
Back in February, reports suggested that the Spaniard was close to agreeing a deal to join Napoli having already held talks, and transfer insider Dean Jones has since offered an update on his current stance:
âWolves would give Traore a new contract tomorrow if he wanted to stay. They would give him a big deal, no problem.
âBut the fact a deal hasnât been signed yet tells you everything you need to know and thatâs that he has his eye on a transfer.â
The Latest: Traore set to leave?
According to Calciomercato (via Sport Witness), Mendes is scheduled to hold a meeting with AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara where Traore will be a topic of conversation.
The Old Gold winger is expected to be âofferedâ to the Serie A giants by his super-agent, whilst Napoli do indeed âlikeâ their target.
Milanâs hierarchy are âready to listen to any opportunitiesâ that will be put in front of them, with this highlighting Mendesâ âdesireâ to find his client a move elsewhere in the summer.
The Verdict: Tie him down?
Traore has been dubbed a âmonsterâ by Barcelona manager Xavi and we believe Wolves should still be trying to get him to commit his future to the club considering the impact he makes.
The Molineux tank has posted 33 goal contributions (19 assists and 14 goals) since joining, highlighting the threat he provides in the final third even despite some periods of poor end product.
Lopeteguiâs star also ranks in the 99th percentile for most successful take-ons and the 97th percentile for most progressive carries per 90 minutes (FBRef).
Traore is an extremely valuable player to have in the squad with his ability to operate in seven various positions across the field, and so the thought of losing his pace and physical presence up front will be a huge blow to the boss.
